Agent cost refers to the cost incurred by the enterprise due to agency relationship. In the enterprise, agency relationship refers to the contractual relationship between the manager and the employee, the shareholder and the board of directors, as well as the enterprise and the external partner. These relationships often involve some agency problems, such as managers pursuing personal interests instead of shareholder interests,董事会inactivity or invalidity, and external partners pursuing their own interests, which can all lead to agent costs.

Agent costs typically include supervision costs, checks and balances costs, and incentive costs. Supervision costs refer to the costs incurred in supervising the behavior of managers and other agents; checks and balances costs refer to the costs incurred in taking measures to prevent managers and other agents from harming the interests of enterprises and shareholders; incentive costs refer to the costs incurred in providing incentives to managers and other agents to better serve enterprises and shareholders.
