The precursor of the Internet, also known as the Internet, is a large network composed of computer networks around the world. Its prototype originated in the 1960s from the Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA) of the US Department of Defense, which developed a network protocol called ARPANET to maintain communication during a potential nuclear war.
With the development and standardization of the ARPANET protocol, more computers and organizations began to connect to this network. By the 1980s, the Internet had expanded to many universities, companies, and government agencies. In 1983, the Internet adopted a new protocol called TCP/IP, allowing various types of computers and devices to connect together.
In the following decades, the Internet experienced rapid development and popularization. Today, the Internet has become an important tool for people to obtain information, communicate, entertainment, and business activities.
Overall, the precursor of the Internet originated from the ARPANET project of the Advanced Research Projects Agency of the US Department of Defense. Its original intention was to maintain communication during a nuclear war. However, with time, the Internet has far exceeded this original intention and become an important infrastructure for connecting the world.
